5.3.6 Can Serra Residents Association (F)

The Can Serra Residents Association was founded in the late sixties and officially recognized as an Association in 1972. Residents Association members have adopted an increasingly vociferous and activist stance towards the council, who they generally mistrust. Their demands focus on the need for adequate road infrastructure, and the provision of a wide range of community service buildings in the zone. They have secured from the council a list of all approved plans affecting Can Serra, and they are now beginning to realize the discrepancy between plan content and development on the ground. The Association has recently secured the help of the Architects College, with whom they are working on the drawing-up of a set of plan proposals for the zone. They are keen to pressurize all public agencies (including the Sub-Regional Planning Authority) for action and improvement in Can Serra, and also wish to publicize their demands through the press.
